SCANSOURCE EUROPE ANNOUNCES EXPANDED MANAGEMENT TEAM AND COMPLETES PURCHASE OF ALGOL EUROPE

GREENVILLE, SC - December 01, 2009 - ScanSource Europe, a leading value-added distributor of specialty technologies, including voice, data and video communications products, through a wholly owned subsidiary, has received German Regulatory approval and has completed its purchase of Algol Europe, a value-added distributor specializing in convergence and communications solutions. In addition, the company has expanded its management team with the promotion of Xavier Cartiaux and the addition of Patrick Zaman and Marianne Nickenig.

ScanSource initially entered into a definitive agreement on November 3, 2009 to purchase substantially all of the assets of Algol Europe. Following this final approval and the transaction closing, Algol Europe officially became ScanSource Communications, GmbH, effective November 30, 2009. With that, comes the new leadership team for ScanSource Communications Europe.

Xavier Cartiaux, former managing director of ScanSource Europe, has been named president of ScanSource Europe, where he is charged with leading the strategic direction and management of all European operations, including AIDC, POS and Communications. He has more than 15 years of experience in distribution, including more than seven years with broadline distributor Ingram Micro, where he held a number of positions, including purchasing manager and senior buyer.

Patrick Zaman has been named managing director of ScanSource Communications UK. In this position, he will help manage the company’s communications strategy and growth initiatives. Patrick Zaman spent more than 11 years with Belgacom, a Belgian service provider, where he served in various sales, marketing and merchandising leadership roles focusing on the company’s voice and communications products.

Marianne Nickenig, former managing director of Algol Europe, has been named managing director of ScanSource Communications, GmbH. She was instrumental to the success of Algol Europe and will provide great leadership to the new entity. Marianne Nickenig brings more than 11 years of experience to her new position.

“We are committed to the continued growth of our European operations and excited about the opportunities that lie ahead, which is evident through the acquisition of Algol Europe and our expanded management team,” said Scott Benbenek, president of worldwide operations, ScanSource, Inc. “Xavier has been integral to the growth and success of ScanSource Europe and his leadership and knowledge will continue to add great value to our reseller partners and vendors.“

“We are pleased to officially have Algol Europe become ScanSource Communications, GmbH and add to the momentum already started in the UK side of our ScanSource Communications business,” said Xavier Cartiaux, president, ScanSource Europe. “This expansion of our communications business will bring great opportunity to resellers looking to deliver the highest-quality voice, video and data solutions to their end-user customers.”

ScanSource Europe was founded in 2002 and is also a leading value-added distributor of barcoding and mobility solutions through its POS & Barcoding sales unit. The company entered the European communications business in 2008 through its acquisition of MTV Telecom.
