Last year, we reported on some of the new and exciting IoT-based opportunities that have come about in the oil and gas industry. While 2020 did not go as expected, many of our trend predictions remained true. Over the last year, we have seen many changes in the solution delivery channel, ultimately leading to new opportunities for VARs, ISVs, and those in the agent community. As we look ahead to 2021, these opportunities will continue to grow and expand their role in the oil and gas industry, making some of the most isolated sites in the world safer for workers and decreasing the likelihood of environmental disasters.

Like so many events in 2020, ScanSource’s annual Partner Conference looked a little different this year – we went virtual! However, Virtual Partner Conference (VPC) certainly didn’t lack the education, networking opportunities, fun, and thought leadership our partners have come to expect from a ScanSource event. In fact, even though our VPC Main Event and supplier expo took place on October 20, VPC has been a six-month compilation of virtual events, educational series, and PowerHours webinars we have been offering up to our partners since May.

Think about the last time you bought groceries. If you’re like most Americans, chances are high that it looked different than the way your parents used to shop. Particularly within the last year, consumers have made it clear to grocers that convenience is king. Formerly a leisurely errand, grocery shopping has adopted an e-commerce element, from getting your goods delivered directly to your door, to buying online and picking up curbside. As consumers have grown accustomed to the online shopping effect, grocers are feeling the burden from two customer bases: traditional shoppers still using brick and mortar stores, and those actually using the stores as micro-fulfillment centers. This new business model causes a unique challenge for grocers, but with the right tools they can adapt to meet the changing preferences of their customers.
