Healthcare risks are frightening. A baby is misidentified at birth, or when being discharged from the hospital to go home. A patient is given the wrong medication, and has an allergic reaction. A message doesn’t get from the medical staff to a doctor in sufficient time to deal with an emergency. These are only three of the risks that can be reduced in—or even eliminated from— today’s healthcare settings, simply by using the right barcode scanner. But how do you choose the right scanner for your customer? Looking at how they’ll be employed is a good place to start.

When you consider all of its attributes, it’s no surprise the tablet is increasingly finding itself the star of modern workplace solutions. First of all, you just can’t beat the price. The simple tablet easily takes the place of expensive and cumbersome electronic hardware such as CPUs, laptops, scanners, and cameras (just to name a few); plus, updating software is as easy as downloading an app. And who could forget the tablet’s environmentally-friendly attributes—such as turning media like paper and ink into extraneous supplies? The SEAR provides a wheelchair accessible room full of large monitors for veterans and their families to get an in-depth look at several areas on board the Battleship USS Wisconsin, many of which are very hard to gain access to. Using pan-tilt-zoom security cameras on the ship and joysticks back in the SEAR, veterans can control the cameras to explore the spaces.
